Ron's Gallery

I didn’t get into art until late in life. I drew as a child, but nothing since and had never painted at all until I got into my 60’s. I started off with some watercolour, but quickly ‘found’ acrylics, which became my preferred medium, but still sketch things out in pencil before painting.

After a couple of years of evening class at Sutton College, I was looking to expand on what I was doing and was introduced to the Artful Dodgers, which is great, and I really enjoy going out on a Saturday morning and painting en plein air with a great bunch of people. Saturdays are always watercolour for me, which I’m enjoying, and am now starting to get into oils in the studio. I just hope I have the patience waiting for them to dry, otherwise it’ll be back to acrylics.

Starting to paint seriously has also given me an interest in learning more about art history, and viewing exhibitions.
